FAQs... Lots of FAQs
What kinds of things can you change or add on the figurines? Skin color? Hair color? What about facial hair and baldness?
Hair color change is never a problem - we're always happy to do that for you, always free of charge! Just leave us a note when you make your purchase and let us know the hair color you need on your bride and/or groom, and we'll take care of everything for you!
We're also glad to add mustaches, goatees, beards, etc. Same thing - just leave us a note during the purchasing process and describe in detail what you'd like on the groom. We'll gladly accept a photo if you'd like to send one, too.
Unfortunately, we have no way of subtracting or altering the hair style (or clothing style) on the figurines. So we can't make your groom bald, for instance. We're so sorry about that!
We CAN change the skin color on certain figurines... please ask us first for details.
Do you offer any non-Caucasian bride and groom figurines?
As we note above, we are indeed able to change/paint the skin color on some figurines. Please ask us for additional details.
How do I ask you a question? How quickly will you respond??
Simply click the "Contact Us" link at the bottom left of our site! Be sure to include your e-mail address on the contact form (no phone number is needed - we'll handle everything via e-mail). We answer questions as quickly as we get to them - always same-day, and generally within a matter of hours. Our response will have "Fun Wedding Things" in the subject line so you'll know it's from us.
How do I let you know about special requests or house divided team information, etc.?
On the order form, you'll see a red "Add a note to your order" notation - it's directly below the photo of the item you purchase. Just click on that and you'll be able to leave us team rivalry information and other special requests and order notes.
I'm looking for a specific item. How can I find it?
Our "Search" boxes - top right and bottom left of our site - are always helpful there. Otherwise, feel free to ask us by using the "Contact Us" link, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!
How large are your cake toppers?
We always have detailed information about each of our products within each individual item listing. So just scroll down within an item listing for more information there.
How do I place an order on your Web site?
Simply click on the large red "Add to Cart" button you'll see on the page of the item you're interested in. Our secure Web site will walk you through the entire purchasing process. It's quick and painless - trust us!
Do you have a return policy? If not, do I have other options?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of our items, we're unable to accept any returns. Our hands are actually tied by law, since cake toppers are used on a food-related item and state and federal laws actually mandate a no-return policy. So we simply can't accept any returns. By law.
In the past, we have had customer friends elope, change wedding themes, use their items, or simply change their minds… and then request a refund. So we're very sorry, but due to many reasons - especially the law - we do have a no-return policy on all of our items. Any box sent back to us will have to be refused and immediately returned to you.
We're quite confident you'll be pleased with the materials and craftsmanship of your product. We always thoroughly describe our items, so please read those individual item listings… and don't hesitate to ask any questions! We're here to help and answer any questions you may have before a purchase. You may also want to read some of the unsolicited testimonials on our "Customer Testimonials" and "Our Items in Action" links at the bottom of our home page to see what people are saying about us.
We've heard from customer friends in the past who had their weddings cancelled or changed their mind about a theme, and they had very good luck selling their items to local bridal shops or bakeries. Social media/online venues are always options, as well. We've seen our items sell for as much as three times the price we charge, so you'll likely have good luck - and many options - if things change and you no longer need your item.
Do you take phone orders?
No. The entire purchasing/payment/inventory system is handled so flawlessly by our secure shopping cart system, that we could never top it by taking phone orders. This way, we never see your payment information, either! Everything is handled safely and very securely for you, our customer friends. Plus, you're able to shop 24/7, at your leisure. Since we are an online business, everything is handled online.
Is your Web site secure?
Very much so. As noted above, your purchase will be processed flawlessly by our secure integrated shopping cart and our secure online payment processor. We never see any of your payment information at all. You'll see the "s" for SSL on our site at all times.
I don't want any of my personal information shared, nor do I want to be on a mailing list. Will my information be kept confidential?
Absolutely. We're a small, family-run business - not a big, corporate one. We have no mailing list, and the only contact you will receive from us is a purchase receipt and a thank you/informational e-mail regarding your purchase and estimated shipping time… then the related shipping confirmation e-mail. We don't store any information - we only need your name and address so we know where to send your box. ; )
My purchase is a surprise - will the return name/address on the box give away the secret?
Your secret is safe with us! We use our business name of "Couch Potato Crafts" as the return name/address on every box, so no one will have a clue at the wedding-related goodies inside!
Do you have a print catalog you can send me?
Due to the daily changing nature of our inventory and items, we don't have a print catalog available - it would be outdated almost immediately. We add new items all the time, so our Web site serves as our current catalog.
What payment methods do you accept?
You'll see the list at the bottom of our site's home page. Pretty much everything out there including PayPal, and if you're not a credit card person, PayPal is always a great payment option. Again, we never see, nor will we have access to, any of your credit card/payment information. Everything is handled safely and securely by our online shopping cart system.
I just placed an order, but didn't get an immediate e-mail receipt. Why?
Every order placed correctly with a working e-mail address will receive a receipt almost immediately. If you didn't receive one, it's a good sign that the e-mail address you used on the order from is incorrect, or that your "in-box" is full. Please let us know if you didn't receive a receipt (check your spam filter, too), and give us a working e-mail address so we can forward your receipt and all of our follow-up information to you right away.
How soon will I receive my order?
We do our crafting as quickly as possible! Always within 3-ish days of purchase, depending on our workload and the day of the week. Then we ship via USPS Priority Mail, which has a 1-to-4-day delivery timeframe, depending on location. Priority Mail also travels on the weekends.
How will my item be packaged?
We take great pride in our ultra-secure packing! You'll find several layers of wrapping paper and bubble wrap around the topper, as well as at the top and bottom of the box. Your topper won't move an inch once it's inside the box, ready to ship! No matter what you purchase from us, rest assured that we will wrap/package your item carefully, professionally, and securely. And we'll also include a free little "something blue" in every box we ship, too! (The Colorado mountain air inside the box is also free...) ; )
What method do you use for shipping, and is it really free for me? Can I track my box somehow?
Yes! We use USPS Priority Mail for every item purchased, and shipping is always FREE at FunWeddingThings.com! For a cake topper, it costs us right around ten dollars in postage. So you're really getting a bargain, and it's our pleasure to offer the free shipping! Priority Mail also has built-in insurance and detailed tracking information, so once we send you the tracking information, you can follow along with the travels of your box. Remember that we use USPS Priority MAIL for our shipping… NOT UPS. So if you don't have an appropriate mail receptacle or area for your box to be delivered, perhaps you'd like your box sent to a work address instead. Just remember, your box will be sent via the U.S. Mail.
Are there any other shipping options? What about overnight delivery?
Since we do our crafting very quickly and ship via USPS Priority Mail (which has a 1-to-4-day delivery time), we generally find that fits most needs. Express Mail (overnight in most cases) is very expensive - right around $45 per box to ship, depending on location, etc. We feel that's an excessive cost to pass along to our customer friends, so unless you're in a bind and really, really need your box yesterday… we do stick to our usual Priority Mail method. But if you need something via Express Mail, please don't hesitate to contact us with your timeframe information, and we'll see if we can work something out.
Do you ship outside the United States? If not, what options do I have?
We do not ship directly outside the United States. But what our non-U.S. customer friends have us do is ship to a friend/relative/business/parcel-receiving company in the U.S. Basically, as long as any U.S. address can be provided, we'll gladly ship there. Our items have made their way to dozens of different countries over the years! If you need assistance with this, Googling something like "parcel forwarding company" is always helpful.
What about damage?
Because of our secure packing methods, we're confident your item will arrive safely. But in the extremely rare case of catastrophic damage, please save ALL packing materials, the box, etc. and contact us immediately. We'll need photos of the damage and as much information as possible so we can being the claim process with the USPS. The USPS will likely want to ask you a few questions about the damage and how your box arrived, as well.
We have chosen our cake topper and other components and adornments extremely carefully, very much based upon their quality and "sturdiness." So unless a shipping box is run over by a truck, the chance of true breakage even during the roughest handling is almost non-existent.
That said, every once in a blue moon, an adornment may come "unattached" - or little hands may work hard and pry off an adornment or something. ; ) As we note, it's always an easy fix with just a drop or two of super glue. And if you need further assistance or tips, please don't hesitate to contact us. Customer service and satisfaction is our #1 priority, and we'll certainly work with you on every aspect of your purchase!
What kind of experience do you have? Where do you do your work? What about customer service?
We have more information in the "About Us" section of our Web site, located at the bottom of our home page. But as we note, our dedicated Web site launched in 2006, but we've been selling various items online and participated in local events and hosted craft bazaars for decades!
Every one of our items is crafted and packaged in a spotless, smoke-free work area with extreme attention to detail, and most of all… love. After all, we're in the "Sweetheart City" of Loveland, Colorado!
Not only do we take an enormous amount of pride in our products, but we take customer service VERY seriously - from the initial contact or purchase all the way through to the way we pack and ship our items. Take a look at our valued customer testimonials and photos (located at the bottom right of our site's home page) to see what others think about us. We truly do value your interest and patronage.
Rest assured that you're dealing with an honest, friendly, hard-working, family-owned small business when you shop with us. No middleman, no drop-shipping - just us working directly with you to create your dream, one-of-a-kind wedding accessory. After all, a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event. We want to make your shopping experience at FunWeddingThings.com just as memorable!
Am I really supporting small businesses when I purchase from you?
You certainly are, and we're so grateful for that! In addition to us (information noted above), a family-owned business in town makes our exclusive cake topper bases for us, and another small business in town makes our heart-shaped cake topper backgrounds/inclusions. So you're doing your part to support small and family-owned businesses when you shop with FunWeddingThings.com!
I love your exclusive cake topper bases and heart backgrounds. Why don't all the team/school/theme logos and such look the same? There are many different patterns and looks.
This is because we DO choose to use only officially licensed fabric and merchandise on ALL of our cake toppers and for ALL of our items. We play by the rules and abide by copyright/trademark law 100% of the time. No exceptions. Printing out any type of logo or image from the Internet would be a violation of said law, and that's something we refuse to do. We never use any paper or cardboard on our products, as we believe in sturdiness and longevity. So what you see on our bases and backgrounds is the officially licensed fabric. We have no control over the sizes and shapes of the images, as we're using the licensed fabric we purchased for the item, not some illegally-printed-out paper copy of an image. Which actually makes your item even more "official" and special!
Are you/your products affiliated with any companies?
No. Our items are NOT licensed products, as we note in our item listings and in our follow-up e-mail. They are, however, individually HANDCRAFTED items made using lawfully purchased, licensed fabric, merchandise, and adornments. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or licensed by any of the characters, teams, schools, organizations, or companies shown in any manner. All trademarks are property of their respective owners.
Our legal/fair/reasonable use (as in the Fair Use doctrine) consists of the photos of the actual items we are describing.
You may also wish to refer to the First Sale doctrine ("The whole point of the First Sale doctrine is that once the copyright owner places a copyrighted item in the stream of commerce by selling it, he has exhausted his exclusive statutory right to control its distribution." -Justice Stevens, delivering an opinion for a unanimous Supreme Court in the case Quality King Distributors, Inc. v. L'anza Research Int'l, Inc. (96-1470), 98F.3d 1109, reversed); Precious Moments v. La Infantil, 1997, (D.P.R.) 971 F.Supp 66 ("The copyright owner's right to distribute the work is limited by the "First Sale" doctrine, which permits the owner of a legally acquired lawfully made copy of a work to sell that particular copy without the consent of the copyright holder"); and the Lanham Act, among others, for more information.
We'd also like to thank our amazing legal team for all their assistance over the years… we're proud to be one of the few who DOES craft and sell by the letter of the law, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Along those same lines, we'd like to thank the fine folks at CAPS (the Coalition to Advance the Protection of Sports logos) for the tireless work they do in enforcing trademark rights. They're good people, and they provide an extremely important service in this day and age.
